There are a lot of events that will be long remembered in 2017. If you haven’t already attended Burning Man, where a fellow actually leapt into the fiery effigy at the end of this year, it doesn’t mean there aren’t other wild opportunities worth checking out.

Now that we are into the fall season, believe it or not, the Holidays are right around the corner. We all know that traveling during the Holidays can be a real nightmare, but sometimes the events you are traveling to are totally worth it!

I understand that thinking about traveling during the Holidays can be stressful, so you might want to look into some great holiday travel tips before you hop on a plane in December. If you are strategic about your transit, you can save time, money and aggravation. *Hint: Night travel, when properly prepared for, can be much easier than traveling during the day.

With all of that in mind, you can also find some exceptional events that have nothing to do with holidays, making travel much less stressful. The following are three events that are worth checking out before the year’s end. (Full disclosure: one is holiday-related!)

Ocean City, Maryland and Brown Box Shakespeare

Ocean City, Maryland is known for it exceptional attractions and easy atmosphere. On Saturday, September 23, the Brown Box Free Shakespeare Tour is bringing high quality theater to the masses, entirely free! You can take in a day of sunshine and surf and then relax with a cool beverage and absorb some fine culture.

No matter where you go in Ocean City, there is always something going on and you are likely to find a few events you had no idea were going on. Sometimes you have to get tickets months in advance, but resort towns like Ocean City tries to maintain continuous entertainment of one kind or another.

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

Another non-holiday trip you might take to the Southwest could involve a quick flight out to New Mexico. The recurring Balloon Fiesta has drawn national attention in recent years. Taking place from Saturday, October 7 through Sunday October 15, massive, multi-colored hot air balloons will decorate the sky all around Albuquerque.

If you have never taken a ride in a hot air balloon, now might just be the time! These massive barges of the sky are often multi-colored and can go quite high. They are the perfect marriage of slow and easy sightseeing and edge-of-your-seat adventure.

New Year’s in Time Square, New York City

A globally popular event is the Christening of the New Year in Times Square, New York City. Travel in New York City can be treacherous, but this event has decades of history behind it and it is worth attending at least once in your life. If you have missed out on traveling throughout 2017, this is a great place to end the year with a bang!
